Iowa City Dances of Universal Peace in September

Dear Friends,

At long last I think I have regained my health, at least enough to be functional. It was a long summer full of questions and lessons to be learned. I’m sure I’ll be sharing the story with many of you in the months to come.

For now, it’s time to get back to dancing. I have planned for us to have one more dance meeting at the old UU church building. Starting in October we will meet in a new space, yet to be determined. At that point Church activities will be in several temporary spaces until the new facilities are built at the property on Oakdale Rd. I hope to know more by the time we meet.

Dances of Universal Peace this Sunday, 8 March 2015

Dear Friends,

It’s time once again for Dances of Universal Peace in Iowa City (details below). This will be our last Dance meeting at the UU Society until next fall. I do hope you will be able to join me.

Daylight Savings Time begins on Sunday, so don’t forget to set your clocks forward, and come at the new 6:00 hour for Dances.

Looking ahead to the summer, I have in mind to hold the Dances at Harvest Preserve on a Thursday evening in May. So far I have nothing on my calendar for the four Thursdays that month, and it looks like the Harvest Preserve calendar is free as well. I would love to have your feedback on whether Thursdays work for you and, if so, which date(s) would work best. Please do let me know since I need to get this on the calendar soon.

Dances of Universal Peace this Sunday, 8 February 2015

Dear Friends,

It’s time once again to dance in Iowa City. The details are below. Please join me if you can and if the weather permits. So far the forecast is promising.

April is some time off, but I wanted you all to be aware of a conflict with our second Sunday date. I will be away from Iowa City on April 12 and won’t be able to lead dances that night. I would be interested in what people think we might do as an alternative. A couple of possibilities are: meet another Sunday evening in April; or, meet early in May at Harvest Preserve. Perhaps someone has a better idea. Please let me know what you think.

Iowa City Dances of Universal Peace – Schedule for 2014/2015

Sunday, September 21 will be a big day for the dances: We have been asked by the sponsors of the local events for “Campaign Nonviolence” to lead a dance at on the Ped Mall.

The local event will start at 4:00 with some speeches. We will do the dance after that. I hope many of you will join me so we have experienced dancers to take part.

After the event, around 6:00, we will have our first meeting of the year at the Sacred Stone Circle at Harvest Preserve. Please let me know if you need directions to the site.

Our regular dance meetings at the UU Society will begin in October. The schedule is below. I hope you will be able to attend! It will be good to see everyone again.

Dances of Universal Peace at Prairiewoods this Monday, 25 August 2014

Dear Friends,

This has been a very full summer for me with wrapping up the details of my retirement, working on my garden, and delving into my dance leading class. So I apologize that this announcement is coming at the last minute. We are going to make an attempt to start a Dance group at Prairiewoods starting this Monday, and I would be delighted if some of you want to join me. The start time is 7:00, so we would need to leave here about 6:00. Please let me know in the next few days if you would like to go, and I’ll see what we can arrange for transportation. I’m excited to be starting this group and hope we can make it go.

More good news: We WILL be dancing at Harvest Preserve in September, and our regular UU Dance Meeting (at UUSIC) will resume in October. I’ll send details about both next week.

The next Universal Worship Service will be conducted Sunday evening, Dec. 29, beginning at 6:00 at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Iowa City.

The Universal Worship Service is a religious ceremony honoring the spiritual traditions of the world through scripture readings and lighting candles.

The theme of this Sunday’s service will be “The Divine Messenger.”
